ROSEMARY PINKSTON; Program Administrator, is the academic heart of Houston All-Stars - its co-founder and its driving force. Along with her husband and co-founder Kenneth Franklin, Ms. Pinkston is constantly reinventing the programs and services to best serve the youth residing in some of Houston's most challenged neighborhoods. She has conducted character development programs that focus on group interaction and has successfully mediated social disputes for sports groups and inter-scholastic activities for more than ten years. She is also a master reading teacher who works hand in hand with the teachers at Elrod and Argyle Elementary Schools during school hours and tutors more remedial students in after school programs, working with them in math and reading to improve their skills at test-taking.

KENNETH FRANKLIN;  Sports Director, is an experienced coach who saw a desperate need in the young people he worked with and co-founded Houston All-Stars to begin filling that need. He coached in the Junior Olympics, and worked with Carl Lewis and Fred Newhouse, two world- class Olympians, who served as mentors and coaches to young athletes between the ages of six and eighteen. Mr. Franklin coached athletes who had great success in high school, many receiving scholarships to colleges and universities, and two who achieved world class status. The rest, as we say, is history. Today, Mr. Franklin spearheads the fundraising effort for Houston All-Stars, overseeing the grant writing effort to expand the programs and provide scholarships to deserving students. He runs the sports components of the Elrod and Argyle programs and designs the curriculum to best compliment its academic and social aspects.

PAID STAFF POSITION; Four dedicated reading teachers work with the Elrod after-school program on an ongoing basis, with an additional six added as needed to staff the Argyle program. Two technology teachers work with students on trouble shooting and computer techniques.

Professional artists, mediation trainers and environmental instructors work with Houston All-Stars students through a variety of paid, collaborative programming. Organizations such as Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (whose CREATE program has pioneered the synthesis of art and conflict resolution), environmental education specialists at Natural Legacy, and teaching artists with expertise in mosaic, painting, drawing and dance, have joined the Houston All-Stars roster in recent school years.

VOLUNTEER STAFF POSITION; Ever mindful that, unpaid staff members are the life-blood of any nonprofit and every bit as valuable to an educational organization, Houston All-Stars is proud to include a group of up to 50 gifted volunteers among its staff. Craft, special effects, science lab experimentation and gardening join the more traditional disciplines of reading, math and preparing homework assignments. Parent and student volunteers monitor field and camping trips as well as excursions to amusement parks and other entertainment venues.
